Starting a business at 18 years old.

by Jack Zhang October 03, 2016

So I figured I would write some blog posts since I have some free time on my hands.

Well, for the first blog post, perhaps I should talk about my experiences so far in running Valachio.  What do you want to know?

Perhaps you would like to know what overall feelings on this venture.  I would say it has developed me as a person tremendously.  Like how the typical father would say 'that builds character' to everything.  I went from a somewhat immature 18 year old to an 18 year old ubermensch (kind of).

Perhaps you would like to know how difficult it was?  Difficult enough for me to cry quite frequently.  Like every 2 hours and 45 minutes.  So pretty difficult, but hey, crying is supposed to be healthy right?  Releases toxins or something?

Perhaps you would like to know how much capital you need?  In my case, it was $200.

What are some things you hate about starting a business so young and without much experience?  I think I'll make a list for this question.

  • I have no idea what the hell I'm doing 90% of the time.
  • I get too excited, and can't sleep
  • I get too sad, and can't sleep
  • I don't know the secret sauce to success
  • I no longer relate to any of my peers
  • I think mentally I developed too fast, and got stretch marks on my brain cells.

Should I (the theoretical 18 year old that is reading this blog post) start a business?  Well, you already know the answer to that question don't you?

Any advice you would like to give?  Yes, only take advice from experts!
